Hi, friends. It has been an interesting couple of weeks with school starting, starting a new job, and managing relationships AND my mental health. It is very overwhelming. As it probably is for a lot of people. So, I want to give you a little update along with some biblical encouragement on how I am personally dealing with this.

I have struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts for almost four years now. It has been a long, hard battle. There are days I want to just stop fighting because of how tiring it is to fight your brain 24/7.

I talked to my counselor about my new season, with everything happening and piling up all at once, and she instantly directed me to the Father! That is an amazing counselor-- if the first thing they do is to bring Jesus in! She is seriously sooo sweet, and I love her very much!

Friends, we HAVE to bring Jesus into the situation with any fight we have, because living in this world is literally living in a battle-- a spiritual battle.

"For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 6:12

We have to be so close to the Spirit and the Lord, that his voice is louder than the enemy. We have to speak Truth over us, and stop believing the lies of the enemy and other people who don't speak life over you.

So, how do we practically do this?

  • One, we have to bathe ourselves in the Word! Open up your Bible, and hear from God and what he calls you!

  • Two, we need to be close to his Spirit and hear from him ourselves through prayer.

  • Three, we need to understand the origin of our problem.

    • Yourself?

    • Satan?

    • Jesus?

This is something I have never thought about before until my counselor started asking me this. But, it helps so much! When we figure out the origin of the lie, we can fight it and come face to face with it.

Finally, friends...YOU HAVE THE VICTORY IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST JESUS!

We have to fight though. We have to choose to believe what the Lord is saying to us. We have to choose to stay!

It may be hard, but the Lord has an incredible destiny of victory and peace for you if you choose him!

So, with these final words quoted by my counselor, I'm going to end it with this:

"I am #TeamLife"

Suicide doesn't win.
