Called Out of Comfort

It's funny because I’ve been asking God what I should write about for a few weeks now, and, just tonight as I write this, after I’m wear and teared from the spiritual battle that comes with being a Pro-life President of a campus, God speaks.

God speaks to you in the weariness, the chaos, the sadness, and the uncomfortable.

Advocating and standing for life is hard, guys. Have you ever felt unqualified or not smart enough to do a certain task, accept a higher position, etc? Well, that is me right now in this season of my life. I recently took a position at my school to be the President of the Students for Life board. It meant a lot to be accepted. The pro-life movement is a passion of mine, and I would do anything to save the life of a pre-born baby, BUT it’s hard work. It takes effort, time, training, but also the emotional side of things as well, like exhaustion from the spiritual warfare that goes on with it.

I was definitely called out of comfort when I accepted this position, but God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called.

"God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called."

I can’t help but think of what Cyrus thought of what God was calling him to do. Cyrus was a guy that didn’t even know who the Lord was, and he still called him to battle. In Isaiah 45 the Lord says to him,

“I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness— secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.” - Isaiah 45: 2-3

WHAT. A. PROMISE.

Our God is faithful, and his promises are yes and amen. He doesn’t waver. ***If you are looking for some encouragement about God’s promises go read 2 Corinthians 1:18-20 and Hebrews 10:23.***

With all this being said, I want to encourage you, and myself even, that we serve a God who equips us even if we’re the most unqualified. I’m sure Cyrus didn’t feel qualified because he didn’t know one thing when it came to God. We serve God to glorify him, not ourselves. The purpose of Cyrus even going into battle was so that others would know who God was. It’s all for his glory.

So, friends, go in confidence, because you are qualified when you are the daughter or son of a King that equips you for his eternal purposes.
